Anti Spam Policy

What is SPAM?
Broadly speaking, SPAM is email that is sent to you against your wishes. There is no fixed definition of SPAM and indeed different opinions are held as to what constitues SPAM. Some of the common attributes that SPAM email may have are: -

  • from someone you don't know
  • on a subject irrelevant to your work
  • contains a marketing/sales offer
  • contains details of a make-me-rich-quick scheme, often involving you assisting in the transfer of cash deposits from foreign countries
  • encourages you to visit a web site, often containing adult material
  • the message is sent to many addresses at the same time
  • the mail headers such as the FROM and REPLY-TO fields are fake
  • the mail is difficult (practically impossible) to trace to the sender

Note that the above is a general list only. The absence of one or more of the above attributes doesn't mean a piece of email is not SPAM.

The term Unsolited Commercial Email (UCE) describes a particular type of SPAM.

For more information on SPAM, UCE, the problems they cause and the campaigns to reduce them, see the resources section further down this page.

Our stance
Easy Quote does NOT use any form of SPAM or UCE to promote our site.

Known problems
We are aware that our domain name is often used in fake email address headers sent out by SPAMmers. Such SPAM emails have nothing to do with Easy Quote. Often they are encouraging you to visit a web site referred to by it's numeric address which is not an Easy Quote web site. The email you have received is in no way associated with the legitimate activity of Easy Quote nor sent by anyone acting on behalf of and with the permission of Easy Quote.

What you should do
If you receive SPAM, please do not send it to us unless you have followed the steps described here and still think it has been sent to you from someone working on behalf of Easy Quote. In most cases, the content of the mail will confirm that you are not being lured to an Easy Quote web site. If you need to contact us with regard to a SPAM issue, please email abuse@easy-quote.co.uk.

Resources
The
tracing spam page at UXN Spam Combat site will help you start looking at who really sent an email that you have received.

For information on what can be done against UCE, see Coalition Against UCE and European Coalition Against UCE
